Imo: Nwankwo, UPP Guber Aspirant, Pledges To Restore Industrial Base

Chief Nnaemeka Lawrence Nwankwo, the governorship aspirant of the United Progressive Party (UPP) in Imo State, has pledged to restore the sound economic and industrial base of the state if elected into office.


Nwankwo, who spoke from his Owerri base through Mrs. Swenny Chisom Onyenze, Director General of his campaign organisation, said he would prosecute his programme in collaboration with international investors and partners who would be brought in to develop the state.


He lamented the current state of Imo State, pledging to bring respect and restore the hope of the people, who he said had been weighed down by the several years of maladministration by the current administration in the state.


The aspirant, who spoke during a courtesy visit to the Governing Council of the Imo stakeholders under the auspices of Imo Zuru Kwuo, pledged to work with the group to liberate the people, describing the group as the Onanaeze Ndigbo of Imo State.


He extolled the patriotic virtues of Imo Zuru Kwuo in bringing together stakeholders from the state to fashion out a new leadership vision for the state, even as he promised not to fail the people if he emerged victorious in the 2019 election.


Nwankwo pledged to focus on infrastructure, unemployment and empowerment of Imo people to save them from the current hunger and poverty which he stressed had become the lots of the people.


Dr Darlington Akukwu the Governing Council Chairman, Chief Uche Njoku, the President General, reaffirmed the commitment of the organisation to lead the cause of mobilising Imo people to ensure the emergence of a better and credible government for the state, even as they assured the aspirant of a level playing ground for all the aspirants.


They also assured of a holistic and all-inclusive mobilisation strategy, which would bring everyone together to liberate Imo State and bring to an end what they termed “one man, one family and dynasty government in Imo State.”
