Newly Registered Democratic Peoples Congress Pleads With Buhari Not To Seek Re-Election

Calls on President Muhammadu Buhari not to seek re-election in 2019 appear to be growing by the day.

One of the newly registered political parties, Democratic Peoples Congress, DPC, joined the chorus on Thursday with a plea to the President to consider handing over the nation’s leadership to the young generation.

Speaking at the party’s maiden National Convention in Abuja, the National Chairman, Olusegun Peters, said President Buhari has failed to provide the needed leadership for Nigeria.

DPC also predicated its call on the President on the spate of killings and poverty in the country.

The party commended the National Assembly’s attempt to amend the 1999 Constitution and electoral act to address observed loopholes.

It equally expressed its support for local government autonomy.
